Hitchcock, known as "Old Doc" to the hundreds of students whom he taught, was an Amherst graduate, and professor of Physical Education for fifty years. Hitchcock Memorial Field, at the base of Memorial Hill, was developed to expand Amherst's playing and practice facilities. |
